My school's summer break started today and I am happy to say I completed my first year of teaching! 🎉 So, besides sleeping for about 12 hours straight, what's the first thing you do to detach from work mode?

Congratulations on finishing your first year!! To detach from work mode I always like to drive to the beach for an afternoon, I feel like summer can't truly start until I've had a good beach day!

Congratulations on completing your first year. That is quite a feat. It typically takes me a good 2-3 weeks to decompress before I can really enjoy my summer break.

Be kind to yourself this summer. If you need rest, rest and do not feel guilty about it. Your body and mind need to recover. It's a must! On the other hand, if you need to get out and see the world...go do. There is no right, or wrong way is what I'm trying to say. Have a relaxing break however you chose to spend it.

I’m going to do things that I want to do instead of doing things that I have to do.

Congratulations!!! I take at least a week of just doing absolutely nothing. Maybe a little cleaning, reading, watching TV, going to the pool. And then once I'm feeling rested, I begin some personal projects like gardening or canning/pickling, working with ceramics, and just other home projects I want to work on. I'm not good at relaxing for too long so I relax briefly and then I get to work on other projects!

I love to relax in nature to take time to feel the sun on my face or hear the waves or the listen to the birds.

Whenever I've got work on my mind too much I like to go for a long walk. It doesn't have to be like a fancy hike or anything, just walking for an hour or so around my neighborhood is fine. I'll usually listen to some music and clear my head and by the time I get back home I feel like I'm back on my own time.

Congratulations!!!!! I love to start the summer with a massive deep clean and purge of my house! That takes my mind off of school and once it’s done I get to just enjoy my clean declutterred space! I usually make a little bucket list of places to take my dog for hikes and we get started on that :) I don’t think about school again until that last week of August! I’m in NY so we end the 26th of June and don’t start back up until the day after Labor Day.

Don't forget to turn off any and all school-related alarms from your phone! 😄

Yes!The first year is such a milestone, and you did it. Take a few days to just unwind and do things for you. I slept so much my first few days off, but I was also super sick. Enjoy your summer break.

Congratulations to you on this very important milestone! I put away school stuff that I had to bring home for the summer. In a closet or wherever I can’t see it. Out of sight=out of mind. Have a wonderful summer! You earned it and so did every teacher on this platform!

Do you consider college savings funds as part of your net worth? I can see why you would but then your net worth would decrease pretty quickly once your kid(s) go to college.
