You want a kid per year? For how many years? 👀
Easiest way to check is to call a few daycares around you and ask tuition, since childcare is likely your biggest new cost bucket. It’s impossible to give you an estimate without knowing what kinds of daycares you’d consider. Some can be as steep as $50k per kid per year, or you can find some considerably cheaper, especially for at home daycare setups. This is true for nanny help as well (huge range depending on what you’re looking for). 2 kids is around the break even cost my spouse and I have found for daycare vs nanny.
Then there is the added cost of vehicle depending on if what you have works, larger home (rent vs buy dynamics), and added healthcare, plus daily expenses like food, clothes, toys, so on and so forth. As the kids get older, are you sending them to public school or private school? (Again, could be $40-50k per year+ per kid per year if you’re doing private vs public).
I have friends that pay $4800 a month for daycare in Sf. It’s insane.
Wow that’s a lot. A nanny would be cheaper
