I can second your experience with Intuit OP. Avoid them like the plague. The SVP of Strategy is a McK alum, but after speaking with him got the clear impression he does not treat his teams right. No growth possibilities in the team as well, low ball comp, they were not even matching my current comp. Also a ton of thankless take home work required, so bowed out gracefully.
They’re not trying to double in size. Of course a lot of people will get rejected. I got an offer with them and they were genuinely great people and smart. Interview process is intense tho. The role is not typical strategy hours
Also the ‘free’ work you’re referencing probably means zero value to someone much deeper in the company and close to the product . This is just for them to see how you do the work. You need to realize they probably extend one or two offers for 20 people they interview in later stages
Charles Aris put me through 4 rounds of interviews to tell my they weren’t looking for someone rated 3 at McK only 5 lol
I had the exact experience… went through 5 rds for them to tell me they wanted someone with 1 more years of experience
More likely that they’re indecisive and don’t know how to run a hiring process than they’re trying to get free work.
Was my initial impression as well. Devil’s advocate is (and I’ve worked in F500 Corp Strat), Corp Strat departments are constantly looking at new markets, new competitive threats, etc.. Honestly would be nice to get some MBA at MBB to do a research project on random market XYZ. Still don’t think it happens, but you don’t need someone to crack the nut on the next big idea. Just put out some decent research
Had same experience from 2 years ago
