doesn’t that depend on the client/company? i’ve seen tables with way more attributes.
what type of data is stored in this table? more context would help.
For me and where I come from if you can take 10 fields out of a table and store that in a different table well then that's a plus.
That's a great question, I don't know... there are so many fields and from what I have found, very little to no documentation on where the fields come from or what they even are, the field names are not ideal either...
I'm concerned about duplicate data, data not flowing properly, again I don't have a whole lot of experience... but I see hundreds of custbody_%...%
I have seen probably close to 50-60 address fields. In the transaction table alone has 13 different address fields, that's not even considering state fields or country.
sounds like a fun project to investigate and document.
I’m assuming this dataset cannot be modified to eliminate columns if cells contain data, but i’d find out if any are empty to see if they can be quickly eliminated by an admin. i’d then go through and label remaining ones with what they are and if they’re necessary or not. since they have weird titles, that may work in your favor as it’ll be easier to marry them to business processes to determine what is/is not used.
aside from that, simply figuring out what everything is and what attributes you need moving forward will speed things up tremendously.
theres an option under home > set preferences > Show internal ID's... that will help you greatly and i recomend always looking at the source transaction/page on one monitor and having the saved search you are creating on the secondary monitor. Then its just a matter of trial and error.
Saved searches are database queries and sometimes you can break the search/not yeild the results you want by joining too many fields.
Good luck and use chat GPT to help :P
This pretty standard depending on the size of company. Moving forward use consistent naming conventions for your records it will pay off in the future
