I worked remotely for a lot of years, and having those in-person meetings wasn’t an option. Both forms can serve the purpose, but it’s undeniable that social media lets us make and keep connections that would otherwise be lost.
It definitely made me feel less alone! And while ease isn’t always quality, it really is better than nothing.
I’ve definitely seen people land jobs through LinkedIn, but personally I feel burned out by it lately. It’s hard to stay engaged when it starts feeling more like a chore than a connection tool.
I see both sides. I still prefer getting to know people in person, but I know that isn't always possible. When it isn't, LinkedIn is a decent networking alternative.
I don't think being face to face can ever be beaten but it's nice that there are alternatives for when that isn't possible.

LinkedIn is a great way to connect with others, I am in the construction industry and people tend to float about and their name never really becomes a stranger so a lot of people will know what they’re like which is helpful too.

Yeah definitely, depends on the nature, my company has been built from the ground through world of mouth and we have grown rapidly within the past 3 years, which I think it’s a fantastic achievement for not having anything on social media. The powers of words 😊
I like it for its ability to connect us with people we don't work with anymore. I found my most recent job because my former coworker posted it, and now we are working together again. I don't know if it's great for meeting new people, but it's good for staying connected with old colleagues and friends.
Aw thats lovely! I bet you still compare your old work place to where you are now together.
Social media has definitely helped my career. LinkedIn in particular opened doors that I would never have had access to otherwise. I still value face to face networking, but the reach and visibility online is unmatched.
Yes the reach definitely has few limits online
