Are there any good movies or novels that show skill development - like follow through? Self-management? Money management? I read a lot of self help books so I know a lot of the theory, and books peppered with examples help, but I feel like most 1 paragraph examples don’t five justice to how hard it may be to change a behavior.

What “self help” books are you guys reading? I just read Untamed by Glennon Doyle and wow, I want to start from the beginning again, but feel like I should read something else. Would love any suggestions.

Is there a market for lawyers to add expertise In crisis management or reputation management? My goal is to counsel clients (businesses or public figures) on how to respond to media inquiries without saying or posting something detrimental to a potential lawsuit while still maintaining communication with their client base. If so, how to break into that industry? Courses? Books? Certifications?

I'll switch to a startup as the only data engineer and will closely work with all the Head ofs + the CTO.

I’m depressed. Nothing unique about my depression - I’m in big law, my career defines me, when I’m not working I can’t find the will to get off the couch, I’m sad or I’m numb…I know I’m the only one that can make a change to my life…I’m on antidepressants. Just extremely unmotivated and paralyzed. Self-help books are not for me, but I am curious - has anyone tried a guided depression/anxiety journal? Any recommendations if so? Or, if you have experienced the same, what steps did you take?

What's with the saturation of self help/ productivity books on social media (reddit, Instagram etc.) ? Not saying I don't mind reading them, but I see this quite a bit. I had someone (26 year old) apply for a non-advisor role on my wirehouse team who is currently an advisor at a bank channel. I don't think he is a good fit for the non-advisor role (wealth management associate) because he eventually wants to be an advisor again. Any reason not to explore him trying to move his book ($300k rev) to my team and see if he can make it as an advisor? I won't guarantee him completion of the FAA program but will mentor. I love working at the bookstore and I'm proud to work with such a large group of people from different backgrounds. I'm really happy we're all here. But it probably isn't the best idea to get someone to reshelve books when they haven't been taught how to categorize them properly. It's like I spend most of the day following one of my coworkers around and discreetly fixing what he works on. He's a great guy, very personable, but wow is it frustrating.
