Recruiter confession: I'd much rather hire someone who is 'eager to roll up their sleeves and learn on the job' than someone with the perfect degree who is stuck in their ways. In this fast-moving market, adaptability is the #1 skill I'm scouting for. Who else thinks we should stop over-valuing diplomas?@

Degrees and certifications are not real road blocks. It drives me bananas when a candidate has adjacent experience and qualifications, but the hiring managers attitude is " They didn't do this job yesterday, so they can't do it or be taught to do it tomorrow". This is usually the type of candidate needed when salary is not really competitive. Or when we explain that a "hybrid" schedule means working from home any one day of the week.
