There's a lot of ways to use a word. I really don't see any issue with that. You can master a skill. I mean it's about context, personally I can't even really understand the question it seemed so silly

What’s the advantage of using words that have been identified by some as harmful, particularly when alternatives exist that can convey the same idea?
I mean in the tech world, master and slave pairs exist so it’s a good reason to change. With slides, since there are no slave slides, it’s not really the same thing. Similarly, degrees don’t have this problem.
Context and usage matters. When it’s ok to consider subservient objects as ‘slaves’ with ‘masters’, it perpetuates a notion that the concept is perfectly fine.
RE: sensibilities - given that the British was one of 3 primary European colonial powers, I would hope they still remember this particular ‘sensibility’. For enslaved populations forced to learn English, I would also hope this forced cultural lesson isn’t lost.
Remembering the past doesn’t mean you can’t forgive and move on. Forgetting though is a different matter
I still use technical terms for master slave relationships and killing orphan children 🙃

Right. That is an example where the use of master is directly related to slavery: master’s bedroom. It would be insensitive and incorrect to continue to use that term.
Master in master deck does not have the same connotation. Master in this context has no historical significance, nor related to oppression, nor the owner.
