Recently started my own firm and interested in others thoughts. Are there resources out there for practical advice or is it only something that comes with experience? For example, I can take let's say a 601A client and use the resources available to me to learn how to do it. But if a client asks me is it better to marry my fiance in her home country, bring her here on a K-1 or have her visit on a B-2, that's not learned from a book or webinar. Just venting here… At WAS for an adjustment interview based on an affirmative asylum and the officer said he’s never done and affirmative adjustment before… and questioned my client when he said that he has never been in proceedings. Officer said “I don’t agree with that, I think you *have* been in proceedings” when we submitted the affirmative asylum approval and I had to show that to him smh. Why aren’t they training these officers 😭

So I just had a client tell me their asylum case is fabricated, and can't I help prepare the person for court. My initial reaction, fire the client. I'm not that kind of atty. But I hear so many talk about finding a balance and not turning ppl away bc ultimately they need a defense and who knows what will come up along the way. How would you handle? How do you find the balance btwn not turning clients away but not being unethical?

How do you answer the question about yourself in i-944 where you can indicate "self" and it asks you if you live with said individual "self", and if this individual is filing for an immigration benefit with you or has in the past (again it's weird because you're talking about yourself.. ).
