I've got a bunch of alerts turned on on different websites, LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Indeed, ZipRecruiter, etc. But I also have companies I'm interested in where I keep tabs on their job openings. I think the big thing is figuring out where you can get a referral. Every time I'm interested in a role I look up the company on LinkedIn to see if I have any connections that work there. I'll reach out to anyone (even a 3rd connection) to try and chat/see if I can get a referral
My position is at risk. I have to find a new one by 4/1 or I’ll be let go. Today, for the first time in a long time, I started looking externally. I’ll let you know how it goes.
You are in my boat welcome.
I was thinking of doing the same you did on LinkedIn once I make that announcement of no longer working as ….. and thanking all my colleagues, how fantastic the 19 year journey was blah blah. I think if I put up the looking for work now it might help my chances of not getting hired internally
I definitely think announcing your openness to work on LinkedIn is a good idea. But I wouldn't stop there. I would message, email, and even text/call former colleagues and just ask anyone you know about job openings.
By the way I am 51 today.
Is today your birthday ?
Congratulations.
Everything will be good for you this year.
Wish a good luck !

What city are you in?
LinkedIn / Indeed / Wellfound / WelcomeToTheJungle (formerly Otta) work all across the US.
In some of the major tech cities, there are sites like BuiltIn(city name) which can be great for hybrid and onsite roles.
There’s also a ton of sites focused on sourcing remote work. Perhaps someone can chime in on what sites work best for that.

Looks like BuiltInVancouver.com is a thing. There might be other Canadian-specific or BC-specific sites that might have jobs that have less competition than the big sites
