US always. Canada labor market for highly educated professionals is toast.
If you have to ask, you’re meant for here
I'd say depends on where you are in life and your priorities for the next few years.
Wealth accumulation? US.
Rasing a family? Depends on the city. Many people escape big cities in the US to raise children, some even return to Canada if they have ties.
Not related to the question but was wondering if you could share any advice on how you approached job seeking as a Canadian. How many yoe do you have if you dont mind?
All the best
Do you have any advice on how to find companies that hire Canadians / are familiar with TN? I have many to be trepidatious about it
US in general for better pay - but I dont wanna be shot so imma stay here for next Lil bit.
What does your partner think? What about their job prospects; they won’t have status in the US to work if you’re on TN. Overall, I say US for wealth accumulation (assuming you’re not losing a whole second income because your partner can’t work) since you don’t have an only responsibilities. You can always choose to move back.
Yeah partner’s job can do a TN situation as well, so not losing money there.
The city matters a lot. In SF, you'll just be getting by. But $200k in a declining Toronto housing market will actually let you afford something decent. An average city in the US is a different story though.
Then there is residency, which is much harder to get in the US, especially if you were born in certain countries.
As someone who moved from the US to Canada, do it but be prepared / relatively stress-free if you have to come back. The biggest drain to the lifestyle / extra money is immigration stress - and if you can create some emotional buffer to that, go for it!
$145k us is decent. Just gotta move to a tier 2 city like Chicago. NYC and California will be too expensive.
Thinking more like Miami or Chicago
Ch
US because your US experience will open up even higher paying US jobs. Canada is hopeless for making money unless you are partner material. In the US, even average people can make bank with a bit of luck.
I wouldn’t go on a TN visa, L1 then yes.
