Case load= malpractice? Small plaintiff’s firm of 25 attorneys. I was a 2 year associate hired and given 50 active files in pre litigation status. 9 mos later a partner quit and I inherited 45 more. I got up to 105 files. Now I hover at 85 active files in varying stages of pre lit. I asked managing partner for help and was told to settle more claims to lessen my load. Is this what people consider negative work culture?

Had a good phone interview on Monday, followed to that night with a thank you email (& some info he asked me to send over.) And... crickets. Do I wait another day to send another email? So antsy...

When covid first hit, I was delighted to be working from home. My hours even improved. Now, because of some triggering events, I’m dealing with horrible panic attacks on the daily. How many billable hours per week is considered at capacity? I’m getting pushback on boundaries I’m setting about additional matters and marketing work from my firm when I’ve been billing 60-75 hours per week for the last 6 weeks, and I’m still behind on my work. I feel like it’s reasonable to not kill myself further to fit in more/turn things around faster at this point, but am I being unreasonable? I expect my workload to remain at this level through the end of the year at least.
