Taking a couple weeks off before starting a new position. It happens to fall during my children's ridiculously fall break (seriously, a week!). Where should we go for a vacation? Kids are 4,7 and no Disney, please.

I’d go to Hawaii or an all inclusive in the Caribbean that is good for kids. Somewhat relaxing (as much as possible with kids) but in a place they can still be entertained. Also you can get to either place with just two flights usually, and the range of available options for all budgets is great.

A friend took her kids to the Nickelodeon resort in Mexico and said it was great for her 8 and 6 year olds. We’ve also been eyeing an Atlantis (Bahamas) trip for when my 2 and 4 year olds are a few years older.

One thing to be aware of re: Caribbean destinations in the fall is that it is hurricane season and many of the islands can get hit quite hard. So expect rain and wind and possible disruptions unless you go somewhere far enough south.

Where are you located?

Took the kiddos to DC for a week (3 and 7). We did museums, georgetown, waterfront jazz fest.

Are you outdoorsy, more into big cities?

It really depends on your kids' interests.

Mine lived museums from birth. We expired the Henry Ford museum and Greenville Village. The village is lovely; there are many hands-on activities available. And the Henry For Museum had machines that made vehicles or of plastic before your eyes. We still have the Weiner mobile that we saw behind made!

We have not yet visited any of Frank Lloyd Wright's Jones, but they might make fun trips!

I'm originally from North Carolina, and I can recommend panning for gold at Reed's Gold Mine (yes, at this country's first Gold Rush, which predated the California gold rush by 50 years!). There are also gem mines in the area, as well as the N. C. Zoo.

Nearby, you'll find Carowinds, an amusement park where you can stand in states (North Carolina and South Carolina) at the same time!

Also, in the Boone and Blowing Rock area, you'll find Tweetsie Railroad, the Mast General Store (truly, it's a fabulous experience). Of course, Ashville and the Biltmore House are incredible (but it would be good to check on how they are recovering from the floods).

Another great option is the beach! Myrtle Beach had a permanent carnival (with rivers, etc.), and kitschy shops every child loves! You could also stay a few days at low-crowded beaches in southern NC.

Another great option is Busch Gardens at Williamsburg. Your could add a day at Colonial Williamsburg and spend the rest of the week at nearby Virginia Beach. (Actually, this is what my husband and I did for our honeymoon with kids (my stepchildren were 8 and 9 when we married.)

Again, it really depends what your kids are into.

While the amusement parks should not be missed, please consider hands-on activities, whether they be minimum, living museums, etc. It's a great way to build more and diverse memories!

Hi! I have a quick question and could use some advice:

I have 1 job offer that is an hour away and pays 45k, after negotiations (Research Associate Position at a University) .

I have just interviewed for a position closer to home and a base salary of 65k, but haven’t heard back from them in about 2 days (He said he would make a decision by yesterday and I’ve reached out).
I have to decide on the first offer by Thursday but I haven’t heard back from the second yet. Thoughts on next move?

I have an offer to join a startup as an APM. The only downside is that the engineering team is located offshore in India. I’m concerned about the resulting impact because of 1) the potential late night calls 2) the learning opportunities missed by not working with a US engineering team (communication tactics, translatable skills) 3) potential exit opps into FAANG pm roles due to not having experience with an onshore eng team. Would any one be able to speak to this from experience or share advice

PwC India Hi folks,

I graduated with Master studies in business at Singapore, and recently moved to India. I am currently looking for a consultant role in strategy functions at big4 in India. Here in India, most of the roles in MC & strategy advisory fills through referrals and campus recruitment, and not posting on the websites. I’d like to connect with people at big4 strategy functions for referrals and to know more about the firms operations

Thanks!
