Would you take a manager role when exiting with <2 YOE? Backstory: I gave a high salary range for a company I was interviewing with and during negotiation they couldn’t hit it at the senior associate band so they offered a manager title instead. I turned it down because I thought it’d be foolish and short sighted to take a role like that so early in my career. Interested in hearing other thoughts and personal experiences!
Currently at v10. Work is great, but its a specialist group, def not a revenue center for the firm. My billing rate is super high. little junior support. Zero mentorship. Basically a billing machine. Def won’t make equity partner. Interviewed with a boutique firm. Great people and similar work! I’m a senior associate. I want to give business development a try (I know I will enjoy it but not sure if I will generate business). Thoughts?

Thoughts on applying to school to pursue a second bachelors in comp sci for a career switch into tech (non bizops/strategy role) as a newly promoted Senior Associate (2 YOE) in Consulting with a business degree? Overall goal is to get into Product Management and the second degree would be 2 years in length. Please convince me I’m not crazy! 👀 not very happy with building slides/models all day and don’t see myself in my manager’s shoes!
If I'm applying to a firm as a second year and the application requires a writing sample, would it be better to attach a brief I wrote in law school, or a brief written during my limited practice, which was revised by both a senior associate and shareholder?
Interviewed with a company, had discussions with two MD’s, a senior manager, and a senior associate. Now the recruiter has not gotten back to me. Am I getting ghosted? I realized I don’t have anyone else’s emails from the company.
I was not promoted to senior associate. I came in as an experienced hire and due to some timing issues with hire date and reviews, I didn’t demonstrate enough in time. I am generally well liked at my office. My goal is to transition to transaction advisory externally. How bad will not being promoted hurt me in applying for these positions once they open up? I have my cpa.
Interviewing with another top 10 PA firm. How often are technical questions ask led during interviews for exp. associate or senior associate?
Currently working as a Senior Associate in Corporate Finance for a publishing company. Interviewing for start-ups to join the FP&A team leveraging my current FP&A skills. Made it to final rounds of two well known NYC start up companies. A little torn...Thoughts?
Rising third year in big law here, trying to figure out what people use as a writing sample when applying to the government? I have drafted briefs but never without input and edits from partners (and it is always a partner or senior associate filing them). Any memos I have written would be privileged. But I also don’t really want to submit something I wrote in law school. Any advice?

Hey all! Currently working in your typical insurance defense firm 1.5 years into practice making $70K with a 2160 billable. However,I just recieved an offer from a co-def I work with on a case to go Legal Counsel/Staff Counsel for Amtrust Financial making $105K base, no billable and office is 5 minutes from my apartment overlooking NYC. Concern: managing own files which I don’t do now. Thoughts?
