Teaching for 11 years now, still experiencing chronic stress. I exercise a lot, eat well, and try to have a life outside of school, but it is so hard. I’ve been thinking of switching careers for five years now. I’m torn because I generally like my job, and love the kids, but it is slowly killing me. Opinions on whether I should switch fields or maybe try teacjing a different grade next year?

Do you believe making that change will help reduce the stress? Concern being you’d be back in the same place with the stress if there are other factors at play.

I think you are right.

If you think that you're just over teaching, making a change might be good. It can be a challenge to pivot into something else, of course. And starting over in something new might bring a lot of new stress. On the other hand, it might be invigorating, especially if you can find an opportunity you really enjoy.

I may spend my next break looking at other fields.

Ugh I wanted to take my son to see a UFC match in person. Just so happens there is one in November at Madison Square Garden - great right! I knew the tickets would be expensive, was willing to pay $400 to $500 a ticket as long as they were decent. The cheapest ticket in the whole arena, basically top row so you can’t see crap, is $506 before you start with the fees!!! Am I wrong or is that just bananas???? Oh well, pay per view it is, maybe have some friends over. Just complaining… happy Friday!
