Thankfully, not all companies are the same, so the compensation and benefits (C & B) package can also be like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're going to get.

Each company must consider:
How do they compare to the market?
What is the salary philosophy?
How does they ensure pay equity?
How does they balance pay & bonuses?

I always want to know what the range is for the role first and foremost because if that doesn't align, there is no reason to move forward in the process. I also want to know what the process is for getting raises and or bonuses.

That is fair, because knowing the range should determine your interest and acceptance.

I always ask about benefits stuff as health insurance & PTO! These are important to me especially since I have kiddos. They are bound to get sick!

When you have a young family, PTO days are very important! While the kids are building their immunity, good health insurance coverage is just as important!
