Everyone loves to point blame at others, but they never want to look inward. It's why the hiring process is such a nightmare for everyone involved.
Pro
it's the biggest nightmare
Yes, exactly this. I'm always trying to explain to my boss, who is Gen X, that the "millennials and Gen Z" applicants are not the problem. The hiring culture is the problem. Applicants are so used to getting burnt out and ignored it and ghosted, why would they go out of their way to thank us? Why do we expect the world and then not extend the same courtesy?

the tables are finally turning!
Its funny because I feel like candidates get ghosted more than the HR team. I hear candidates saying every day they never heard back from xyz company. These companies are just as bad about ghosting as candidates so nobody should expect anything at this point.

My company is similar to this. Their way of thinking is that "everyone wants to work here" and that they should feel lucky to be part of the process.
100% agree the interview process is broken. It does not make sense to require that many interviews in the process.
Absolutely horrible. 3 max
There is room for improvement for us, but it isn’t a too bad process. The salary ranges are lower than most. Even being up front about that still leads to people not showing up once in a while. If it’s a constant, they could be working on the process, because no-shows still take up time and money.
I’ll be the first person to understand when things happen at the last second, but it’s too common to always be that. We give candidates a lot of open windows of time for them to choose, and that still only does so much.
Everybody is busy and if candidates don’t go the extra mile to stand out they’re not that interested. Your HR team needs a culture and mindset shift, especially with those lack luster practices. I would probably not be that interested either if I was the candidate. Bc it goes both ways, if the business doesn’t show their interest in me and at least have respect for my time, I’m on to the next.
If you’re the DoO you should take control of this situation and expect more.
