You cant beat the fed right now. Everyone knows this rally is absurd and everyone is waiting for the rug pull. The charts are gapping all over the place and price has run up on weak volume compared to the selloff. I continuously ask myself who would be buying here, are we economically in the same place we were a year ago ( last time we were at these levels)? The market seems to be immune to bad news.

Don't follow blindly - may have something else they are hedging against, but you don't

Hey ya’ll - buying a primary residence in July 2024 and just getting prepped up for a 20% down payment (more for peace of mind than anything. I have a few multi family properties where I did more creative financing but just for the sake of this discussion let’s say I’m doing 20% down). My plan for a bit was to do a 60/40 split of taxable investments (index funds) and cash on the way to the total value of down payment, leaving behind 6 months of cash at time of purchase - Thoughts? alternatives?

Have money invested in S&P 500, and now starting to regret not having diversified to international stocks as well. Would want to diversify now to buy a total stock market index, however since S&P 500 dropped more than that index, not sure it’s worth to crystallize losses to do that. The alternative is to stop buying S&P 500 and start buying other markets as separate ETFs, to eventually bring in line approx. with total stock market index. Any advice on the best course of action?

$AVAN which has been mentioned here a couple of times is currently at $9.78... at below $10 isn’t this essentially a risk-free investment? Also, what are people’s thoughts on $AVAN in general - it’s European focused, have heard rumours around Babylon Health as a possible merger target. Any thoughts much appreciated!

Any thoughts on where to park about 40k for the short term (3-6 months).? Half of it is part of a new long term investment strategy to which I will be adding about 2.5k/ month and the other half is earmarked for home improvement/ vacations.

I’d like to try to get some upside while limiting risk...Yes, I understand the basics of investing and why this is a bit of a ridiculous ask. I’m just concerned we are heading toward a cliff and don’t want to be down when I need the earmarked half.

Transitioning from com. lit into tax controversy?

I have a tax LLM and started my career out of law school doing M&A tax at a big4. After 9 months, I got out of big4 transactional hell and into whatever litigation I could find. I now practice commercial lit but would welcome the opportunity to eventually transition into tax controversy (which I wasn’t able to do before). Does my commercial litigation “break” hurt my prospect? How long can I stay in com lit without hurting my chances even more?
