There was a point at work where I realized being reliable had quietly turned into being expected to handle everything. I was the one people went to when shifts needed covering, when something went wrong, when someone needed help. At first, it felt good to be trusted. But after a while, it started to feel like my effort had blended into the background like it only mattered when I wasn’t there.

I didn’t need praise. I just wanted to feel like the loyalty I was giving actually counted.

I feel you on this. I'll give the shirt off my back for a company where I actually feel valued and taken care of. Unfortunately those places are very few and far between...

Right? It doesn't even have to be the company as a whole, a good manager can make all the difference. I miss my old one so badly.

The most importance of saying no is so underestimated. It’s a skill to do it and set boundaries. But you can still do it. There is no need to jump and try to do everything for everyone. Start saying no I can’t help.

like

I agree. Saying no is a skill, and once you start setting boundaries, everything changes.

You can't become that person or you will always be walked all over. Sometimes you have to put your foot down and say enough is enough.

like

Totally, gotta know when to say no!

Have you ever seen that meme that says I accidentally became important at work and it’s ruined my life. I feel that. The key is to be as productive as you can so you don’t get fired but not too productive that They expect too much for you.

like

Haha yes, that meme hits different 😅 being reliable shouldn’t mean “do everything,”!!!

I’m dealing with that at the moment. I actually got promoted after they let a person go but now I’m stuck at two people’s jobs. Oh, and not to mention that they are cutting staff and I will have to deal with that as wel. But I guess they saw that I worked hard and I would just deal with it

like

Yikes, hope they don’t expect you to do even more !!

Most corporations don’t provide employees with good career planning.

It’s critical have your own #CareerBlueprint.

What are your career and personal goals for this year?

For the next 3 years?

Consider all areas of your life, not just title and compensation:

- Education / Certification
- Free time
- Fitness
- Family
- Vacations
- Retirement

Start with the outcomes you want to achieve and then plan short and long term steps to get there.

What’s your plan? Let me know in the comments.

The cumulative effect of consistently working on your mindset and your #CareerBlueprint will keep your career on track.

How do you clear the mental and emotional noise daily to get clarity?

- Recognize negative thought patterns and deprogram them
- Create positive thought patterns and incorporate them

Your #CareerBlueprint is a 1-3 year plan you create. It leads to fulfillment by aligning your values and desires to the work you do.

Hello Everyone!

I very recently accepted the position of Sourcing Specialist at TidalHealth - a large Heathcare group in my area. A few of my target positions include Social Workers and Therapists. If those in this group can provide me knowledge on what you are looking for in employment offers, salary expectations, the ideal work environment, and any/all factors that would help me in my quest to improve my work ability.

I appreciate any and all responses!
