We live in a Theocracy now, and it is only going to get worse. The three unjustices who lied their way on to the supreme court will stop at nothing to transform this country. I am now concerned about them restricting gay travel due to monkeypox.

I thought it would be a couple more years before the systemic dismantling of LGBTQ rights started, leaving more time to prepare. When Dobbs was filed I predicted Roe would be overturned. And, Lawrence v Texas would make its way to the SC via a “moral objection” vehicle such as a Dr or employer not wanting to pay for PREP. Having said that — TX will use “health, welfare, and safety” combined with “religious freedom” as the rationale to outlaw PREP, and put anti-sodomy laws back on books. They will do the same with birth control pills as well, overturning Griswold v CT. We will then have free states and states where intimate relations are regulated be it straight people wanting birth control pills/condoms or gays wanting prep. Felony jail time will be justified, or worse. Right now in the US it is unconstitutional to execute our citizens absent high treason or pre meditated murder. That could easily change at the whim of The Church. Those 9 “people” are all that stand before us being executed or not.
Apparently straight, religious people can’t get AIDs.

Or, alternatively, you who live in red states for the tax low taxes can spend some of that money to organize those red states and register voters to get them out to vote. Or join school boards. Or run for local office.

Well, sorry if that came off mean. But you asked how much longer we plan to live in the US like it was a foregone conclusion we had to leave.
Great for you living in a blue island in a Red Sea. There are purple pockets, I guarantee you, where your lawyer $ can help flip red seats blue.
I live in New York. 15 years ago we had a three term R Gov and a red state senate. We worked HARD to flip state leg seats and support down ballot candidates and it’s paid off.
My point is that rather than abandoning ship, you should focus on where you can help first.
I know people don’t want to hear that, because nothing is less sexy than supporting county legislature candidates or school board candidates, but it is what we have to do.

For now, I'm staying in states and cities that, at least so far, are unlikely to backslide. But I definitely am contemplating whether I should try to get licensed as an attorney in Canada, or make aliyah to Israel.

Im going to NZ this fall to visit — and that’s where I’m hoping to land. My study of the political system suggests that is the safest country.

I truthfully hope the suit will be tossed out on its face. I’m not ready to pack my bags just yet. But it is indeed concerning.
