What are some common Teams / Zoom / Skype habits which annoy the heck out of you?

How did Microsoft eff up so hard in March 2020 and let Zoom completely erase Skype from existence?

Going to office for last 2 weeks. I was eagerly waiting to meet my teammates and build connections with other guys but sadly in Bangalore hardly 10% are coming up. Unnecessarily counting the rents while the work that is being done in the office is same as the one I did from home.. that same zoom and skype calls. Thinking of going back to my hometown in Lucknow for a month and then coming back to base location again. Only thing is the below cafeteria and an amazing weather holding me back here.

Where do you upload your picture so it starts showing on Skype/Zoom/Outlook?

In my previous Organization, I had taken a couple of interviews. Unlike zoom links at D during pandemic, those interview were mobile calls without the video. The candidates were specifically from Bangalore and Hyderabad cause the requirement was location specific. Once the pandemic is over, the person would work out of client location. I noticed, the candidates giving great answers on telephonic, but when it would be a client zoom/Skype call, the candidates would go mum. Anyone noticed that?

Congrats to ppl who got promoted. It already started reflecting in zoom skype outlook.

Are there any advantages of interviewing over Skype/zoom for MBB vs in-person? Just for example - Case interviews typically use frameworks, what if you have the print outs in front of you...lol?

My sister works at a company that is so backward and toxic it scares me. They didn’t have Skype before the pandemic and now use Zoom. She’s trying to get a laptop to WFH with b/c the one that they issued her is from 2005 and is a nightmare to work with, but her boss wants to save money and get her a desktop instead of a laptop b/c they won’t be working from home after COVID. However, he has no problem ordering the newest equipment and WFH himself even before COVID. All I gotta say is toxic.

I am nearing the end of my employment and will be officially laid off . Unfortunately I bought a new laptop since my old one is ancient. I expect to be doing virtual interviews and want to make sure I have the right equipment. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what type of software or equipment that would be best? We used Skype for business at my firm, but have no experience with Zoom. Is one favored? Your kind advice would be much appreciated!

I have Zoom job interview (not an in person) with a large multinational consultancy (but not MBB/Big 4) for a mid level role. Previous Skype interviews with them have been biz casual dress but this interview is with much higher ups and for a case study. BizCasual again or suit up? Suit seems over the top since they know I’ll be home.

With interviews mostly over the phone/Skype/zoom, is everyone still sending thank you emails? I’m working with a recruiter so I don’t always have the email contacts for the people on my interview.

Tried Facebook Rooms yesterday for a call. It was good until the sound cut out. Hangouts has terrible video quality. Zoom has a 40 minute limit for the fee version. Skype is so 2019. What’s your video conference platform of choice including Pros and cons?

Saddest part of people quitting before was seeing their name/email disappear from Outlook/Skype/Zoom/etc.. guess I’ll be seeing a lot more of that in the coming weeks 😢

Since we are in the business of branding and marketing, what happened to Skype? They did a lot of award-winning work around the world. But during this pandemic everyone immediately went to zoom, who has never done noticeable marketing. Does anyone know how or why? Tell me before my account people explain how award winning wrk doesn’t work again.

How many calls have you had on Teams/Zoom/Skype/Webex etc? I'm wondering how many hours of my life were spent on "can everyone please go on mute" and "let's take it offline" 😬

How have you approached being on camera during the extended WFH routine? Some people are ALWAYS on camera while others just dial into calls that they would normally be on Teams/Zoom/Skype/WebEx for. I go on camera from time to time, but not for every single call.
