How much would my tech stack and language be a factor in getting selected in faang or good product based companies?
I'm asking from getting my resume selected to getting an offer.
I read everywhere that only DSA and system design is needed, but I'm still concious about my tech stack.
YOE: 5 years

I have been reading a few articles talking about how FAANG isn’t as lavish as it used to be. My first question is if that is true? If it is true, my second question is what companies out there have the pay, benefits, and perks like FAANG? My last question is if it is as difficult to get into those companies? Yes, you should anticipate and be on the lookout. Otherwise it’s easy to fall into a rut or quickly get behind on hours. In a worst case scenario, you’ll get a sustained period of low hours which then becomes self fulfilling, because people wonder why you have low hours and assume it’s because you’re not great (this is mainly a concern with new associates).
If you have a huge number of hours already banked, though, it’s fine to take it a little slower and rejuvenate a bit.
I generally don’t seek more work until I can’t bill a full day. The few times I tried to be proactive, I got absolutely slammed by the work I sought out on top of an onslaught of work that came organically. I learned not to ask too soon lol
You’re eager lol. I usually give it a few days of like sub-8 hour days (even if those days are hovering at 3-4 hours).
It depends. If I have a bunch of stuff I know is going to come, I just chill until I actually have nothing. Don’t want to overload just because of a couple of slow weeks.
I always do because I like to avoid being a sitting duck when my least favorite partners have staffing requests 😇
No. Let work find you, or else you’ll end up neck deep in grunt work.

Depends. If I’ve been very busy, I’ll take the lull for a bit, then ask for work if things don’t pick up. If I’ve been slow for more than a couple weeks, I’ll actively hunt for more work.
It depends on how far ahead I am on my hours. If I’m exactly on track I’m knocking on doors the second I smell a slow down. If I’m way ahead I might just decide to take a vacation. YMMV
Take care of getting CLEs out of the way. The work always comes quicker and more unexpectedly than you fear during the wind down.
