Totally unnecessary unless your kid has weight gain issues. Even if they do, just get an infant scale for way cheaper. It is too easy to obsess over that stuff. Our son had weight gain issues and we specifically didn’t buy a scale because we knew we’d agonize over it and were going to frequent doctor appointments. We got one after our daughter was born in March because of COVID meaning less appointments, but that was the only reason.
