Be calm and very patient with them. Remind them that they are safe and that the teachers are there to help. Let them be near the adults and try hard to make connections with them by reading their favorite books, offering preferred toys, etc. also make your routines as consistent as you can so they know what to expect. Build trust with calm, gentle and reassuring kindness and they will settle in. I have 2 who are like this right now. They are just beginning to relax - it is their 4th week.
It's encouraging to hear that you are in a similar situation and they are settling in. Yesterday I was really encouraged because I was able to calm down the girl by talking about her dog.

Of course, I have Middle School aged students, but they still have moments. So for those moments when my kids need somethings to calm them, I have 3 crocheted sea turtles, that they can hold. It surprises me sometimes when certain kids come to me and all is they can hold one of the "Flashes" (they're different sizes so they are named Mini Flash, Little Flash, and Papa Flash ).😃
That is so stinking cute! I actually just bought a crocheted sea turtle for my niece!

My nieces and nephews love those videos.
Try to be as consistent as possible-if you are consistent they will learn the pattern/routine and eventually adjust. It can be overwhelming to them so for now not eating is within reason. Are they sleeping at all? If so, then the trust is beginning to happen
One of the kids has started sleeping the other usually stays awake but I'm hopeful that will change in coming weeks.
