We regularly hear about the importance of psychological safety, yet employees who raise concerns are often labeled as negative or resistant to change. This creates hesitation around honest feedback. Can a workplace truly claim psychological safety if dissent carries professional risk?

No, I don't think they can claim psychological safety if their employees are scared to speak up. Man, companies, as I have learned, don't actually want you to speak up. The minute you do, you put a target on your back and are labeled as a problem.

I think there’s is a difference of speaking up and someone who is showing a pattern of being overly critical of coworkers . the company and things in general (basically they are insecure).

Focusing on one thing at a time is huge. I’ve also had to reset expectations out loud, especially when the pace shifts. Sometimes the boundary isn’t about saying no, it’s about renegotiating timelines so you’re not silently absorbing the pressure.

I don’t think so

Psychological safety is not understood well by people. We need a simpler term

Hi all! My brother has 8 YOE post his Masters with a US bank in their rates trading division as a software developer- managing, supporting and developing software for pricing trade executions, risk management and reporting requirements for the trading desk. He wants to pivot out of banking and maybe look for an opportunity with FAANG or with MBB/Tier2 consulting. Any inputs on how to go about this transition, what hiring managers look for and if consulting is an option? TIA
