Ask him not to come to consulting, he can make more money with better WLB and lower toxicity in tech. Consulting is not the place to be for a technical person. We just act like we’re solving problems but we don’t.
What bank is your brother at? I second the suggestion to focus on tech, but a lot of this will depend on his experience and company tech brand. My suggestion:
1. Pivot to capital one tech if his current bank’s tech brand is too weak to rely on. Capital one by no means is a legit tech company but for some reason our tech brand is surprisingly strong/we have become a legitimate faang/big tech stepping stone
2. Stay here for 1-2 years while doing the bare minimum at work and focusing entirely on interview prep
3. Line up and interview at proper tech places
4. Profit
BOA. The brand is there. He just feels stagnant in terms of learning and actually doing something that interests him.

Citadel and Jane street are about just as competitive and MBBs fyi….. but your bro sounds like one of the rare few they may like. I know those types of firms are EXTREMELY picky on the tech stack of the person they hire.
