Has anyone made the switch from in house to an agency after 10 years (or more) of experience? How realistic is it to secure an Account Supervisor position with a medium to large sized firm?

I've worked in the web/content/social space with nonprofits and a tech org, but I feel like I could use more experience building comprehensive marcom plans. The ultimate goal is to help lead an association or nonprofit shop's comms/marketing as a director or VP.

Account supervisor, $80k, NYC. 2.5 years in current role. 6 years experience total. Am I underpaid?

I’ve busted my ass to become an Account Director and 2 years in the role, I learned that I hate it.
