Weekend thought as many of us watch our portfolios bleed away value as the market hit all time highs: stick with it. This is a very difficult time in the market so try to figure out what’s not working and fix it. Stick with your process while trying to improve it. That should you you in the best place to manage risk now and be positioned to capture new opportunities in the coming weeks and months. Discipline, execution, and patience are key sources of alpha. Best of luck.

Completely agreed. I think also the rapid gains from 2020 brought an unrealistic expectation that the market always behaves like this. Investing is a long term process and always be aware of the risk you're taking! I personally only invest money I am okay with losing.

What’s fascinating is the market tracking upward despite portfolios of a lot people pulling back. Says just another round of rebalancing.

Thanks for sharing VP.

Only thing I'll add is generally I have found is that when stocks seem to keep heading lower and you want to cut your losses because you feel sick to your stomache, thats when they start to reverse and go higher. But, I'll disclaim that with solid companies with strong financials (not meme stocks)

Here’s the performance stats:
VIX spread was 175% return
SPX 4300 was 395%
SPX 4250 was 402%

Was an test run of the strategy so stayed small. But this worked very well.

It always declines this time of the year. Just sell some covered call and chill till september

Dont get fixated on a particular month.

Summer slowdown starts when they declines sharply in one of the summer month and its thr hint that you should take a vacation till sep.

I’m seeing lots of posts about really bad losses. If you trade you’re going to lose money - hopefully not all the time, but many positions will be mistakes. But you need a process to find ideas and manage positions. Two books you should read are “The New Trading for a Livinng” and “The Laws of Trading.” Both look at psychology, process, and risk in different ways that can help you work out your own process. The next 18 months will be much harder than the last 18 - time to start learning.
