Ha how typical. I, for one, am shocked that Elon's mad job slashing did more harm than good 🙄. I wasn't let go, but if I was, I would only come back if I had no other options. It'd really hurt my pride to come crawling back after being so unjustly cast aside.
I lost my position due to the reduction of executive assistants in federal government executive order. Unfortunately, I was a contractor so I’m not sure, even if the order gets taken back, how it would affect me.
Unless I was very desperate I wouldn’t consider it under this administration. They have proven to be reckless and unbothered with how they treat people.
The very next day they announced plans for massive layoffs.
I don't even know what to say about all the cuts....other than it is a mess. It is hurting a lot of people and small communities. Another aspect that is not being reported is how many contractors and contracts have been cut. I am not sure how it is legal in many cases. If a company competitively bid on a contract and won, the government cannot move it to another vehicle unless due to poor performance. Somehow the gov't is moving work/scope to other vehicles. When the contractors are cut they are cut...that is it. At most federal agencies the CSs were given an option to leave with a DRP. Not saying the DRP was OK, but they were given something. Contractors are just let go...unless you work for an amazing company. In addition, the civil servants are insourcing, which is a whole other disaster. None of this has been thought through properly. Total mess!!

Every RFP has a clause deep in their Exhibit(s) and typically always implied that the Government may pause/stop/cancel work at any point the Government has under no obligation to follow through entirely on an award named ‘termination of convenience’ they can simply pause mid work and wrap up, as someone who prices various contracts to the Government through a PRIME…. you can tout and complain and say it’s unfair but that’s just how the government works and has always worked.

I am not sure, if they are going to re hire all of them back. They might significantly cut back roles and salaries.
It’s certainly challenging I think if I was laid off or furloughed and I lost my job, I think I would probably return if I had the opportunity and was not currently loving where I currently work or even working at all. I know it’s a lot going on I think one thing you keep in mind to not be so jolted by the whole thing is if I can’t work where I am it must be somewhere else. We as people are more resilient than to crash out because of being terminated or fired. I remember a year ago working somewhere I hated as contractor and being told yeah have you heard ”they” are going lay off 5,000 and every other day people coming by my area asking had we heard anything. I said and just so I can get off the mental rollercoaster. I started telling myself…if I can’t work where I am
It has to be somewhere else. That’s what it boils down to stop stressing over every article, news release. You purpose and being on this earth has to be greater than a job you hold when looking at it big picture.
