Having made my way from a Java developer to Rpa developer and now into consulting, what would be the lead role for me next.

Hi guys, I had an interview for an SDE 2 in the Bay Area. The recruiter came back saying they can only offer an SDE 1 position, and currently the team I interviewed for does not have any open positions at that level. The recruiter mentioned that they have sent out my application to multiple hiring managers and as soon as they hear back they will let me know. Has anyone else ever dealt with getting downgraded for a position and then hung out to dry?

Which is your dream city to move into?

I’m finding that a weird side effect of losing my job in this climate is ad agencies taking advantage of my weakened position. They get in touch, proactively or in response to my reaching out, and they want to hire me as they are in good shape. When I reveal I was laid off, the offer changes to freelance or maybe nothing. My work, awards, the fact that they know me and approached me in the first place should be enough. I don’t want to lie about my situation. Any ideas how to avoid this?

I have the feeling burnout is more related to our lives outside work. Like, on work weeks I know I'll got out to hang out with my friends I'm MUCH less stressed than weekends I'll stay alone at home. My stress level is defined by the next weekend.
