I thought the same when I first entered the workforce. I had to develop a plan for growth for myself. I knew no one would husband me chances, I had to go for it. So I built my experience in each position until I was ready for the next.

It honestly takes work and a plan as you stated. Plus leadership that will help you get to where you wanna be.
I honestly, haven't had a lot of growth over the last decade. It is one of the reasons I have been looking into switching industries. I don't feel like there is a lot of growth where I am at now.
