OP as a black person, i support this message. How can I get the video so I can share with others?.

But I appreciate your opinion C2 - thanks for saying it politely.

I’m a POC, and I agree with this video. Too often people are judged with how the established norm expects them to act, talk and live. Change starts with true acceptance of the differences in people, and only then can the healing process begin.

Thank you for adding to the conversation - much appreciated. The more people that add to the convo, the better.
I guess people are just frustrated. This isn’t a new topic of discussion. People have been talking about this forever, most notably when Kaepernick kneeled. I think Kap, BLM, and the rest of the supporters have been really patient and peaceful in trying to get their message across. And yet, people are STILL misconstruing the message (latest example: Drew Brees). It’s like people are purposely not listening—so it’s frustrating? Even people on this app seem to not get it despite the many explanations given of why “all lives matter” is problematic.

I agree with you, and it is very frustrating. But I am not pointing at one side or another - everybody immediately jumps on everyone no matter what they are saying. Maybe if we were slower to speak, quicker to listen the conversation might produce more understanding. I think that’s true in every situation, not just in the context of current events.
I think more than anything right now, I’m so tired of neutral, devil’s advocate, both sides to every story people.
D3 I’m with you, think those are solutions that will have a great impact- my worry is that they’ll be harder to sell in red or swing state cities now than they would have been because of the rioting and will make interactions with police worse in the long run in those places.
This is true in theory until that opinion harms others

And you’re welcome to articulate how their opinion does harm, and why it should be different. You could be someone who exposes someone else to a whole new better line of thinking by engaging them vs casting them out of society and leaving them to say/believe/do the same ignorant things they were before.

I see so much immediate hatred all over social media. You’ll never change someone’s mind on anything if you come out immediately and start attacking them. It will instantly make them defensive and closed off to what you want them to hear. And attacking each other does good for no one. We are having a lot of difficult conversations these days, but them being hard conversations doesn’t mean we should just stop talking altogether/write each other off for being stupid or whatever. We should be engaging each other and exploring how to initiate a change of heart with concepts like mutual respect and understanding.

Thank you for explaining. I know very little regarding French culture so I’m not able to speak to that.

I’m saying everyone has the right to form and express their own opinions, and should welcome discussion with opposing viewpoints in a way that is classy and respectful, for the sake of enlightenment. If someone doesn’t change your mind on something and you stand by your opinion - great! But by having a discussion you become diverse in the thoughts available for consideration, and have perspective on opposing arguments that may help you better articulate your own. That is all.

As a minority too, I don’t trust that someone could change their mind or bias easily. It’s just hidden away. I’m ok with just hiding it. Openly hurting someone is never OK.
Chief
But I think you’re respectable for not wanting to hurt someone openly.
