What is up with all these stories of attorneys being fired during pregnancy and around the time of mat leaves? What in the hell are these law firms getting away with?

A lawsuit was just filed against McDermott by a senior associate who doesn’t appear to have been fired, but she suffered two miscarriages after being forced to work to stay on partner track. She was ultimately not promoted since she had to take 6 months medical leave to learn how to walk again after a miscarriage she suffered when she was told she had to make an out of state depo. It’s really horrific

Yeah... we need to hold these law firms' feet to the fire.

As one who just posted about my experience, I wonder how common it is

I just went through this. Hired a lawyer and we just settled. I think firms will take the risk and pay up if necessary to get you to sign their general release.

There was just an entire trial about this. Associate lost but it Definitely happens.

If it’s any consolation, I’m doing my best to make sure other associates/partners know how this group treated me. These firms do the math and figure out how much money they save despite them violating the law because they know the associate won’t actually sue in most cases, but they never really take into account reputational harm and that’ll hurt them in the long term. Even in the DLA case, there’s no way that group is going to recruit women associates again—they’ve blacklisted themselves. Just shows poor judgment when the firm itself is making an exorbitant amount of money.

To provide a different perspective, my experience and knowledge of DLA (IP team specifically) is that they’re super family friendly. Awesome about leave, awesome about onboarding and coming back, and super flexible about schedules. It’s a huge firm and every team is different, but it’s hard to imagine a more family-friendly environment than what I’ve seen.

E.g., I am a parent on a part time schedule with young children who works remotely.

What are some things you guys wish you knew before you started your NetSuite implementation?

I’m at a small company that’s sort of becoming medium sized, and a new exec pushing to quickly implement NetSuite and I just want to make sure we’re not getting in over our heads, he’s trying to get this done within two months

We currently use Salesforce, quick books, and excel, we’ll be consolidating a lot of accounting and finance stuff into netsuite and integrating it with Salesforce

Can anyone recommend a white label chat tool that I can embed in my application? All the people that would be using the application would have the ability to do targeted communication to others. We'd need to basically present a button and when clicked 2 people can then talk to each other directly. You can think of it like a buyer and seller communication feature on a marketplace but real time.
