Hello fishes. I received a call from Iberis technologies saying they are hiring for Lenovo. Recruiter said I will be on payroll of iberis until 2 performance reviews and then I will move under the payroll of Lenovo. But they are not ready to give that in written. Also she is saying Lenovo doesn't hire people directly nowadays. They have to go through other vendors payroll before they become permanent with Lenovo. Is it true?
Hi folkes,

No it’s not too early. I’ve seen people get promoted from planner to supervisor/manager in under a year. It all depends on your specific situation—how hard you work, how you sell yourself, if it’s an open role you’re trying to fill or if you’re asking for a completely new promo, etc.
Time shouldn’t dictate promotions. You shouldn’t be held back because you haven’t met an arbitrary min amount of time, nor should you expect a promotion just because you’ve met the arbitrary threshold.
i’ve seen it happen - depends on performance and the situation at the company...
2-2.5. 1.5 would be if you were really excelling beyond expectations.
Media planners get promoted after a year, on average, at this agency, and 3-6 months later they're out.
2ish - also depends the level at the agency. Assuming you are talking Sr. Media Planner?
In LA specifically I’ve seen colleagues go the route of either 2 years as a Planner or 1 year as a Planner + 1 year as a Senior Planner before exploring Supervisor roles. So what you guys are saying makes sense, thanks!
Depends on the market. In Canada an assistant can last up to 2 years. It can take 4 more years before you're ready to be supervisor (some agencies throw "Sr. Planer" either in between or in replacement of). Then it depends - can you manage people? Do you understand you're partially (depending on team, mostly) responsible for company revenue AND being supervisor? Than you're ready to be manager.
I've seen people come in before me I've surpassed. I've taught people that I'm sure will surpass me. Title is something you earn, or it's just scarcity of talent - the latter of which can end of terribly for both.
You should be Media Director by now
