What's been your experience with promotions? Do you always have to ask for one and be proactive in looking out for when the company is looking to fill senior roles, or do you wait for your work to talk? I've worked in my current agency for 2 years and feel like I could aim for the next level, but haven't been offered anything of the sort.

My experience has been that you can't be shy about letting people know you want to move up. If you don't speak up, time passes by and people just naturally assume you're content. That can be dangerous, you can get pigeonholed so that people will only see you in the role you're already in.

Sometimes people try to keep you pigeonholed for their benefit too, as long as they can. Very frustrating to be in

Seeking advice ...
Currently working in Due Diligence and looking to switch to either IM or Consulting. I’m really looking to grow and I recently got an offer for a TP role at one of the big four. Should I take the offer and then pivot to a management consultant role from there or should I stay in banking and try to get myself into IM? What are my options? Thanks!

My skin has always been a little dry. I’ve used plain coconut oil on my face for years (as a moisturizer) but recently stopped because my fave would just get red after application. Not itchy but I definitely felt like my skin was reacting. Any suggestions for non-acne related calming face washes or moisturizers?

Senior attorneys at v100, how common is it for attorneys who start at small firms to lateral to biglaw? Have you worked with any? Conventional wisdom is always that if you don’t start there it’s hard to “trade up”. My coworker and I just did it to two different great v30 firms, and I’m wondering if it’s really that uncommon? Just out of curiosity. We’re not special counsel with special niche skills or anything, just associates. Pitfalls to beware? Positives?

I just received my offer letter for PwC! I am nervous about needing to take time off, which I told the recruiter up front about, along with specific dates. I understand accruing time, but he said to not worry about it, it won’t be a problem. If I do not have the 3 weeks needed for PTO, can you use your sick leave, or go negative in PTO?
