What’s one finance concept that you struggled to understand but now love teaching others? I used to really struggle with zero based-budgeting, but I’ve now figured out that it’s the best method for me. I love helping others understand it and will even help them create their own spreadsheet to get started.

Might sound a bit weird, but it's opportunity cost. Sounds more like economic theories, but I had a mentor teach me how to apply it to real-life and it suck. (i.e. Do I take a gig on the weekend to earn som extra $$$ or rest?) It shifted how I think about time and money. Now I love framing decisions around, “What’s the trade-off here?” It helps people see that every ‘yes’ costs something else.

Not weird at all, this is a great example of something it took me a long time to realise but is such a key decision making tool

I need to look into that, I use a traditional budgeting method and I tend to not keep up with it because I don't think it works for me. For me, I love learning about different debt paymentmethods. A lot of people get overwhelmed by debt, especially if they have student loans, credit card get debt, medical debt, car notes… I like teaching people the most efficient way to pay off their loans to achieve financial freedom. I honestly felt like my financial life started when I got completely out of debt, and I enjoy helping people do the same. The only thing I don't like is when they ask me for help, I do a bunch of work to help them, and then they don't follow through with it. But I just have to get over that, I guess.

Double entry accounting. It was so simple until I started doing it. My whole career path started in bookkeeping and while the beginning was almost the end too! Eventually I got it down and now it’s like nothing to me, but oh how I struggled for a bit! Teaching others for me just involves a lot of patience and remembering how hard it can be sometimes!

Can you share more info on this? Thanks

Not necessarily a finance concept but I used to HATE using Excel. I took a course in college to learn more in depth features and I hated it. Now I have become the queen of spreadsheets and the person who teaches everyone else formulas and how to make a good spreadsheet with data.

Hi fishes,
Want some feedback for Employees Assistant Program (EAP) by Capgemini which provides facilities to connect with Therapist.
Actually I am going through some tough times(going through a divorce), want to connect to EAP to discuss my mental health issues.
I had connected once and they say that the conversations are strictly confidential.
Just wanted to know do they really keeps stuff confidential or can they inform my Manager regarding the personal conversations.
