What’s the minimum raise that actually feels meaningful to you now? For some people, anything under 5% barely registers. Has inflation changed what you consider “good”?

For me, my base pay has more to do with my raise satisfaction. When I was making ~$60k, 5% would have meant basically nothing (probably not even keeping up with inflation). At that time, my raises were in the mid-teens, corresponding with promotions just about every year (working at a big 4). Now that I am into 6 figures, a smaller percentage is ok, but I still typically hope for something in the neighborhood of 10% (or more) for non-promotion years for it to be meaningful.

This is a good way to look at it. 5% to a Partner is significant. But is not much to a staff.

I’m fine with 4-5% now. But I’m on the higher end of the scale so. But that’s because once I get my bonus and all that ontop I’m looking at something of a net 6-8% so it feels like something t.
