I’m not old BUT when I was younger I thought it was important to have all the alphabets after my name (I.e. Phr, SHRM and all the others). I learning that the younger crowd coming into the market thrives off these identifiers yet they know very little about the real world aspects of the job. I watch leadership roll their eyes at the email footers. I feel like keeping those attached to my name hurts my credibility so I removed them…. I’m I thinking wrong?

Our company in CA has been working remotely for the last two years since Covid. We are downsizing our office space and officially transitioning to a remote first workplace. With this, we are looking for paperless options for our employee filing system. We have a current hris we use for new employees or documentation but it’s not customizable. I’m a boomerang employee and a friend of mine noticed that my company posted a similar job description to mine on indeed 10 days ago. My boss didn’t tell me they were hiring another person in our department (small department - 4 people). Should I be worried? Should I bring it up to my boss? I’m really stressing myself out over it. For reference I would consider myself a top performing employee / everyone was very excited when I boomeranged. Not sure if I’m overthinking (I do that a lot).

Do you think there’s a glass ceiling for out gay employees? I’ve been with my (now) husband for the last two decades and had three positions. I’ve absolutely excelled in each, winning awards, exceeding goals, working well. But with each position, I’ve had difficulty getting promoted. I even took on the responsibilities of a senior director after his firing and I couldn’t get promoted. Hello, first post here. Outside sales, merchant services/card processing. I’m primarily a welder but I work 4 10-hour shifts typically then I try sales the last three days. I’ve done it long enough to where I’m confident and comfortable going to new businesses, establishing some rapport with business owners. But it seems like a lot of businesses see this as a waste of time, even adding services and cutting costs. I guess either I’m looking for advice or considering not doing this anymore.
