I still haven’t yet. If I have to be in a position where I need to compete with someone far less experienced than me, then it’s probably not going to be a place where my contributions are going to be valued.
I suppose when you start to get desperate. I adjusted when I moved to the Midwest and also when I needed to find something quick. Although it was not about competing with younger or less experienced folks. It was market tightening.
Sometimes it’s worth it to take a pay cut to get certain types of experience. Easier to do when freelancing though because it can be short-term.
Salaries are contracting period. I haven’t had to do that quite yet, but expect some volatility over the next few years
Haven't done it yet but unfortunately it's kind of inevitable. I had to to keep taking progressively more senior jobs to stay ahead of it or be content with not pushing for increases.
I’ve been wondering what the tipping point will be for me down the line. Not there yet, but also figure it’ll be inevitable at some point.
My freelance rates have not changed, from age 39 to today age 56.
Mine have shrunk slightly, but there is definitely a trend towards clients expecting way more experience and the duties can range upward, for the same amount of money.
