I say T-W-Th in office and M & F remote! If we formalize it and it becomes the norm, I think we get the best of both worlds
The people in the middle are the sandwich generation, caring for kids and aging parents.
Because they own real estate
We’ve seen how powerful remote work can be for WLB, but the human connection that happens when people are physically together can’t be overlooked. A hybrid model could work, but it requires clear expectations and consistent engagement. Leaders need to be flexible while also ensuring that the culture and collaboration stay strong. It’s not a one-size-fits-all solution, and that’s where the challenge lies.
This just shows how disconnected leadership was, and continues to be. Dimon (and others) point to how things were before. But the thing is, few people that I worked with (large, global financial services company) were in office five days. Before, people had agency and flexibility. Now, they’re just cogs.
Guys like Dimon are carried away with their own celebrity. But, he's taken seriously and his comments on RTO policies are helping to set the trend of ending remote work. You can learn a lot from being around other people, and a hybrid situation would still allow for that. But I don't expect that to happen, the idea that remote workers are cheating the system has just become gospel with too many people in upper management.
