When should I give a new client a heads up that I will take time off for mat leave? I started with this client about a month ago. There’s no SOW, and it’s a few hours a week for random projects. I didn’t tell them I was pregnant at the time we started. My plan is to work until the end of the year, and then take time off. When is the best time to let them know? Asap? A month before? I don’t care about picking things up once I’m back but I’d like to be courteous.

SO beyond frustrated with my work environment I think it may be time to leave for good. I returned from maternity leave after 4 years of working at my very old-school, boys club, nepotism-friendly company. Hi EY moms - question on parental leave. Have folks successfully used the family/dependent care to increase their overall leave? I was told by the leave team that those are “personal healthcare days” to be used for a “parent, self of child” and can’t be used for maternity leave. This doesn’t seem to line up with the written policy. (I’m splitting up the FMLA and 10 week leave, to use some accrued vacation in the middle, and wanted to add a few of those family care days.) I recently had my first baby and I’m trying to be as practical as possible, I did not get a bunch of baby stuff I just got the essentials, I think they sell you too much unnecessary things. I do appreciate people showing affection with gifts but feel kids now a day are over gifted. Would it be taken wrong if I suggest that for birthdays and Christmas instead of toys people deposit whatever they were going to spend in my baby’s 529 account?
