Currently a B4 mgmt consultant (healthcare, non-finance) and want to end up in social impact investing (healthcare, emerging economies).

Is the best route to go through PE or HF to get the skillsets needed? Know it’s an uphill battle

Is working at a healthcare agency early in your career a bad move if you really want to do the traditional ad route? I ask because I was approached to apply for one (highly awarded). I’m at a small shop on a 6 month contract, and since it’s lockdown still, I’m keeping my ears open. I’ve heard it’s a hard niche to get out of.

I recently changed jobs and my new 401K provider - Principal has very limited MF investment options. My prior employer’s 401K was managed by Fidelity and provided me access to a range of MF options. I believe that the fund options are negotiated by the employer and provider? Two questions. First - I have not rolled over my previous 401K to the new one. Would there be any problems. Second - is there a way I could move my current 401K to another (precious) provider?

Partners, are you content and fulfilled where you are in your careers? Obviously fulfilment means different things to different people but by and large, are you happy?

Of the many binders you have made in your career, what percentage of those binders do you think were actually used? I do a lot of trial prep and I'd say most of the binders I prepare don't even get opened up, even it's just to see if there are actually printed papers in there.

Insurance companies are now allowing embryo banking. This happened to me and also another friend who works at a different company where we decided to go through with another IVF cycle before attempting a transfer (because an optimal number of embryos was not achieved) and insurance approved them. I’ve been an associate at a PE secondaries FoF for about a year and a half, base pay of $83k (bonus of 10%) in a LCOL/ Tier 3 east Coast city.

I want to ask for $110k base (same bonus) at the end of the year to get my comp closer to street ahead of a promotion next year. Recruiters and a peer in a Tier 1 city put PE Secondary associates at $130-$160k base with 50%+ bonus.

Thoughts?
