I think there’s only ever been one time I tried to reapply for a company I once worked for. I was glad I didn’t end up getting rehired though. Normally I go for completely different companies when I’m jobhunting.
I don't generally apply to roles at companies I have previously worked for. But I do look for jobs in the industry. I have gone back to companies I liked in the past though.

I’m so use to applying for jobs that are very similar with the job roles that I have now but I want change so I applied to a different position within my company. I like growth and I want to be able to learn while I am at my job until it’s time to go.
Pro
Former jobs are like exes. It is best to move onto something new, not go back to what didn't work the first time.
HOWEVER sometimes we go back anyway. And sometimes (at least with a job) we don't have much of a choice. Which is why it is best not to burn any bridges.

I like that analogy but you are correct. I think it’s great to experience the job that you have but now you can take on a her role and be better. For me, I like growth and I will always apply to a new position so it can challenge me.
