People who let their dogs off lease suffer from main character syndrome
I thought they suffer from lack of critical thinking skills syndrome, but those may be synonymous
I hate it. My dog is a golden retriever who looks really friendly, but we actually adopted him at a year old and he had been through a lot and has bad dog aggression. He’s trained and we can control him, but it makes me crazy when people will just let their off leash dogs run up to him saying “oh don’t worry, she’s friendly!”
100%! I don’t care how friendly your dog is, don’t assume mine is. Also, your “friendly” dog running up to mine and scaring it, not ok. It makes me so angry
Agree. Couple reasons:
-Unpopular opinion but dogs are animals. Even some of the best trained can react or snap at the wrong moment. It only takes “being out of character” once to ruin a kids face for life or harm another dog.
-Not everyone likes dogs. My wife is scared of them after being attacked once. Brings a terrible fear when dogs just jog towards her.
-Fear aside, some people just don’t want your dogs dirty nose that was just in another dogs a$$hole sniffing around their skirt. Maybe they don’t want your dog hair on their black pants. Maybe they don’t like dog spit on their shoes. Maybe they are allergic. It’s not the other person’s responsibility to manage your dog, it’s the owner, with a leash.
Love your dog, care for your dog, have a special bond with your dog…but it’s your dog, keep it to yourself on a leash in public unless someone invites it into their personal space
