Would you ever secretly treat an exotic pet to help the animal but try to ensure that the owner didn't get in trouble? Asking for a friend...

Ooh this is tricky. I don't think that I could jeopardize my own license by doing something like this even though it would cause me a lot of grief to not help a suffering animal.

Ugh, it's such a tough call. I want to help but don't want them to get in trouble or lose their pet.

Hmmm, that is a tough call. However, I definitely wouldn't do it through the vet in fear of losing my license. I would probably point the owner to the right resources (what medication they need, how to administer it, etc.) and then let them make that decision. I don't know what kind of pet it is, but I know that you can get a lot of medications for small furry animals at tractor supply stores. Good luck!

That is tricky because if something goes wrong the owner will blame you and report you then you could lose your license just recommend them to someone

Hello, I’m an LMSW in Michigan. I have 15 years of experience in the field as a clinician, supervisor, and an administrator. I am feeling burnt out and unsure of my future. I have worked mainly in the Community Mental Health and the VA Health systems, hence my fatigue. I’ve flirted with private practice work in the past, but my spouse has been worried about not having affordable healthcare and benefits that each system provides. Is it worth the jump? Am I overthinking things?

If you're being told "take your full lunch" (because by law you need to be given a certain amount of lunch depending on how many hours you work) but then you're told, if work's not done you need to stay until it is, and now people don't want to take their full lunches because it means they'll have to stay after work longer, is that coercion a violation of any federal labor laws?

Confession: sometimes, when the owner leaves the exam room, I vent to the pet about how annoying their owner is.
