I've worked at all three, and the charter school was my favorite, but that may be primarily because it was a school of the arts. I'd place private schools last on the list because the parents were an absolute nightmare to deal with.
Pro
I agree with you about the parents at private schools. I had a parent who was downright verbally abusive. She was a big contributor, but our principal suprisingly backed me up with the situation.
Public for the retirement
Pro
I agree.
Public School. You reach those who truly need a positive influence in their lives. I am lucky - I work at a school where I feel safe with all my students but know of those who have terrible home lives, doing/selling vapes or drugs, or those who have nothing at home to eat. I keep snacks in my room, mentor several of them, and just love on the rest.
I wouldn't want a private school as many of them feel entitled! I would consider a charter school.

I think the charter school seems interesting. I love my babies at our public school and try to put everything I have into helping them build their dreams and hopes for their present and their future.
I had my experience on both and I would say public school will be the best choice if you want to stay longer until your age of retirement. Private schools can be a pain in the neck and I feel like I have less autonomy when it comes to doing my own work using my own style.
Pro
I agree. I have had the experience of private and public. The private was very personal, and I developed lasting relationships with parents and students. When the new admin came in, he really tore everything up and started paying people unfairly. I say private schools can be very political and cliquey.
Pro
I only have experience teaching at Charters and this is what I love. We do not have to cater to the whims of parents, we do not need their tuition dollars to stay open. We do not have to put up with disruptive behavior that seems to be allowed in public schools and have very high behavior standards. We wear uniforms creating a unified and safe place free from judging and creating cliques based on financial status, favorite sports teams or anime character.
Pro
It is less... downsides to charter is less funds, but I have great benefits, and I have way fewer behavior problems . It is a k-12 school, so my children will always be in one building with me. It is a rigorous curriculum as well, putting my children ahead, and I love it.
Public.
