Just accepted an offer with a psych startup. Not exactly the offer I was hoping for as I’m taking a slight pay cut ($73/hr) and it’s a 1099 position. I keep getting stuck on the 1099 piece because I’ll be working 40 hrs/wk, but have been told I’m not eligible to be a W2 employee. Needless to say, no benefits whatsoever. They don’t even provide a computer or any other remote equipment for the completely remote position. Am I making a mistake? Also, can anyone chime in about being a 1099 employee?

How are 1st year litigation associates dealing with WFH? I’ve been having terrible anxiety/panic attacks, and pretty sure my billables wont exceed 110 for April. I’ve been super stressed about it and don’t know how to move on to May with the proper mindset to make up for as much time missed as possible. Hey guys I’m trying to figure out the market rate for a staff tax accounting position as I am new to the industry. I am looking in Long Island New York any help would be great. Looking to start at a mid sized firm.

At any level above Senior, how do u manage the relationship between utilization and realization, which is an inverse relationship. Seems to be either blow the budget (and write it off), or eat a lot of time.

I spent a year in tax investigations where I believe I was thriving ( I was going to be an assistant manager in July 2023), I had a lot of assistant manager jobs, I even drafted a Code 9 report to HMRC which my manager said was 80% of an actual report, he then added the 20% and submitted it.
After I realised I couldn't maintain all the unpaid overtime I was working I decided to take a turn and go to compliance, so now I work in CT compliance. I feel very surpressed.
