No new posts on this board for 5 weeks. Does this mean everything is great and we ended mansplaining for good? 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
I want to print this and put it on every male’s desk
Mid-level Account girl emailed me a copy of my own form ‘for reference'. Like a Business Manager doesn’t know what a talent completion report is. Really?! 🤦♀️
Vendor asked for closed caption files for a vid, but before sending I wanted to confirm where the vid would be to need them (for usage rights). He proceeded to then explain how captioning works.
“First of all, you’re wrong. And you’re mansplaining.” - Me “Well yeah I guess you could say that in the sense that I’m a man and I’m explaining something to you." - Male Account Exec (More below)
Got a good eye roll out of this interview. Another good ol’ boy group relying on the “it’s just how the industry is” excuse https://mobile.nytimes.com/2018/05/23/arts/television/arrested-development-netflix-interview-jeffrey-tambor.html
I got mansplained twice in a meeting today and another guy actually said, “yeah, like *man* said a minute ago....”. I SAID THAT 30 SECONDS BEFORE HE DID, IDIOT.
I was giving a short presentation about my experience at the Women’s March last year, and my male CD interrupted me to explain what the Women’s March was.
I saw this on Twitter and felt it would be most appreciated by this group 😅
“By establishing shot I meant wide shot” This is wide. “Wider than that. To establish the scene” You didn’t shoot that “We need to establish the scene” With something you shot, or something imaginary?
I laughed at my partner’s joke, and then he explained it to me as if I didn’t get it. (I did.)
Today I watched our creative director explain to our medical director how an MRI works. I had to pay close attention to my face to keep my jaw from hitting the floor. She literally has a PhD in this!
My CD is one big 'Splainie 😡
3rd week on the job, a guy 2 levels below me came into my office and started the conversation with "let me lend you a piece of advice...". As expected, it was not useful advice, he was just a douche.
Colleague said “oh hello, who the fuck are you?” When I brought up what I guess was an unwanted opinion. This was years ago when I was more junior.
I got reprimanded by a man for having an uninspired point of view of a conference call. He then gave me his inspired POV...which was exactly the same. When I pointed that out he said, “huh. Maybe.”
Male colleague sent me a link on how to storyboard. Reminded him of my title and my undergrad was significantly video-related.
Producer just splained to female director how shooting boards work. I was busy trying to open window for jumping-out-of purposes.
New GCD explained to me at great length what a manifesto is. I’ve been in advertising 15 years.
“You know, women, they like yoga.” 🤭🤯 Thank you. I had no idea.
