She has about 6 months worth of classes to graduate but the stress of this job and the commute is making it too difficult to complete the course work.
She is considering leaving for sanity and time to complete the BA. This department had a lot of long term folks that just retired and now can’t keep anyone longer than a year.
Is this type of dumped in the deep end normal for accounting department roles? Any suggestions for someone in this position?
Government struggles with getting candidates because they may not have recently completed a comp survey so salaries lag behind. New generation does not value low salary with good benefits that government typically provides. There are times where the skeleton crew has to figure it out. However their unwillingness to promote or recognize her, sounds like BS, but you’ll get that at larger governments. The job will likely still be there if she leaves for 6 months, finishes the degree and if nothing better comes along.
