Funny enough I have not seen this problem. I feel the older employees have been faster to pick up change it may take more available training but, the younger ones could but they don’t actually want to change so it takes them longer.
I think that the last changes we have implemented in my company have been for the better so I am not worried about it, on the contrary I like it.
I definitely understand your concern! Every time we turn around there's a new platform to learn. But at the same time, I think that's just the nature of our digital world. Our platforms are changing faster than ever before, and that's only going to continue. So I think we just need to embrace that change and be open to learning new things
Changes in digital platforms are like viral things, they change very quickly and it is imperative to be at the forefront of each one, in our company we have a marketing department and what we call a Sabbath school, which is actually on Mondays, where The marketing department brings our staff up to date with everything we need to know. It is a success and has improved the work environment at the same time.
You can try separating the knowledge, it worked for us. What does this mean, a part of your person learns about certain platforms and the other is dedicated to other platforms, then you have a meeting where they help each other. It is functional and encourages union.
I don't find that the issue is how fast a specific platform changes. Usually updates are quite intuitive. What's more problematic is workplaces that like to change their platforms on a regular basis to save a few dollars :/
I'm glad digital systems are evolving, it's kind of necessary if I don't want my job to go away! YouTube is the best resource most of the time. You can find videos explaining any and every system on there. Saved my hide a time or two
Yeah... it seems like as soon as I learn one ordering system, the company wants to switch to another and I have to start from scratch again :( So frustrating. Just make a decision and stick with it, folks
Ha, I'm an older employee, and yeah it's a bit of a struggle at first but it's manageable. If it helps any, just think of how learning something new makes connections in your brain, and theoretically you are being paid for training. Score one for neurology
